Edna Gertrude Beasley was an American writer and memoirist. A feminist, her controversial 1925 autobiography, My First Thirty Years received some favorable reviews but was also suppressed, and she soon after disappeared. Decades after her death, researchers found that when she returned to the United States in the late 1920s, she was committed to a state mental asylum in New York for the rest of her life.
