The German Autumn of 1977 was a series of left-wing terrorist attacks against the government, capitalism and society of (West) Germany. After captured leaders of the far-left militant organisation Red Army Faction (RAF) had been sentenced to life in April 1977, a "second generation RAF" carried on with attacks, in order to force their release.
