George Merrick Brooks was a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts. Born in Concord, Massachusetts, Brooks attended an academy in Concord and a boarding school at Waltham.
He graduated from Harvard University in 1844.
He studied law.
He was admitted to the bar in 1847 and commenced practice in Concord.
He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1858.
He served in the State senate in 1859. Brooks was elected as a Republican to the Forty-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused
