George Ernest Kalmus, CBE, FRS is a noted British particle physicist. Kalmus was born in Beočin, Yugoslavia, and moved to Britain with his parents and his elder brother Peter Kalmus in 1939. His sister Elsa Joan Kalmus was born in 1945. The family became British Citizens in 1946. Kalmus was associate director, 1986–94 and Director of Particle Physics, 1994–97 at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
