George Hüfner was a German-born teacher who lived in the German Quarter of Moscow and acted as a translator for the Embassy Order. In 1675, he was the director of the court theater for Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. Hüfner is credited as the director and possibly the author of one of the earliest Russian plays, the Temir-Aksakov plot.
