text: The Gavilanes de Maracaibo was a Venezuelan professional baseball club based in Maracaibo, the capital city of Zulia state. The team was founded by the brothers and ballplayers Ernesto Aparicio and Luis Aparicio, Sr., played in various leagues in the western part of country, debuting in the Zulia Baseball League First Division (1932–52) and playing most of the rest of their existence in the Liga Occidental de Béisbol Profesional.
