text: Garbhodakaśāyī Vishnu is an expansion of Mahavishnu. In Gaudīya Vaishnavism, the Sātvata-tantra describes three different forms of Vishnu as: Mahāvishnu, Garbhodakaśāyī Vishnu and Ksirodakaśāyī Vishnu (Paramātmā). Each form has a different role in the maintenance of the Universe and its inhabitants.
