It was described by Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1919 and is known from Florida, Texas, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil and Argentina. The larvae feed on Cassia species, Caesalpinia gilliessii and Canavalia gladiata.
