Frederick Bowley (1851–1916) was an American politician, who served as the first executive of the Borough of Queens in New York City. Bowley was born December 19, 1851, in New York City. He had training to be a butcher, and after buying land in Long Island City, New York (state) in 1887, he proceeded to operate butcher shops there and in the Queens County towns of Astoria and Flushing. Bowley was an alderman representing Long Island City from 1895 to 1897. In November 1897, with the creation of
