Frank Hilder was the Conservative MP for the South East Essex constituency from 1918 to 1923. Hilder was born in 1854, the son of Edward Martin Hilder of Ash, Kent. He was educated privately. In 1895 he married Evelyn Mary Wood, the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel G W Wood, in Ingatestone, Essex. The couple lived at Huskards also in Ingatestone. He was an officer in the Essex Yeomanry, in which regiment he was promoted to captain on 20 December 1902. In 1906 Hilder was made a Justice of the Peace
