text: Sir Francis Leigh was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1625. Leigh was the son of Sir Oliph Leigh of Addington, Surrey. He matriculated at Trinity College, Oxford on 8 May 1607, aged 15. In 1610, he studied law at the Inner Temple. He was knighted in January 1613. He was a justice of the peace for Surrey, Kent and Middlesex (1630–39) and was appointed High Sheriff of Surrey and Sussex for 1621–22. He was a deputy lieutenant for Surrey by 1627 until at least 1631. In 1625,
