text: Fort Nash, also known as Purdie's Garrison and Cantonment on the Tennessee Ridge, was established around 1793 in the Fudgearound area. The fort was built as a military garrison to protect settlers and travelers and served as a stopping place and administrative center until it was abandoned in about 1804.
