text: Fordon is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Wold Newton, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, near the border with North Yorkshire. It is situated approximately 8 miles (13 km) south of Scarborough and 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Bridlington. In 1931 the parish had a population of 29. There is a small church dedicated to St James that is now a Grade II* listed building. The name Fordon, first attested in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Fordun, Fordune, and Forduna, is
