text: Ernest Edwin Coombs was an English cricketer. Coombs was born at Croydon in December 1875. He would spend much of his adult life in British India, where he played first-class cricket in the Bombay Presidency matches for the Europeans cricket team on six occasions between August 1901 and September 1918. Playing as a bowler, he took 19 wickets in his six matches an average of 14.73. He took the majority of his wickets in two matches; against the Parsees in 1903 he took five wickets, while against
