text: Ellen Nathalie Nina Beck (1873–1953) was a Danish mezzo-soprano who in the early 20th century was one of the country's best known concert performers. She also frequently gave recitals abroad, appearing in the Promenade Concerts in London's Royal Albert Hall. In 1906 she was honoured by King Frederik VIII as a Royal Chamber Singer, a title usually reserved for opera singers. Beck later became a prominent voice teacher.
