Ōei Invasion The Ōei Invasion, also known as the Gihae Expedition, was a 1419 Joseon invasion of Tsushima Island, which is located in the middle of the Tsushima Strait between the Korean Peninsula and Kyushu. The third and largest suppression of Tsushima took place in 1419, named after the zodiac of that year. It was preceded by the first suppression that took place in February 1389 and the second from December 1396. Both ended with the goal of eradicating pirate activity in the area. It is name
