text: Edward John Barker Pense was a newspaper editor and owner and a politician in Ontario, Canada. He represented Kingston in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1901 to 1908 as a Liberal. Pense was mayor of Kingston in 1881. He was born in Kingston, the son of Michael Lorenzo Pense, a printer and one-time owner of the Kingston Argus, and Harriet Grace Barker, the daughter of Edward John Barker, owner of the British Whig.
