text: Sir Edward Brackenbury was a British Army officer. Brackenbury was born on 10 March 1785 at Raithby by Spilsby, Lincolnshire, the second son of Richard Brackenbury of Aswardby, by his wife, Janetta, daughter of George Gunn of Edinburgh. He was a direct descendant from Sir Robert Brackenbury, lieutenant of the Tower of London in the time of Richard III.
