Dwivedi or Duvedi or Dubey or Dave is an Indian Brahmin surname meaning expertise in the Yajurveda.
Dubey and Dwivedi are interchangeable titles.
Dwivedi is derived from combination of the words 'Daiv' and 'Vedi'; 'Daiv' means 'spiritually related to God' and 'Vedi' means 'one who knows about'. Thus Dwivedi means 'a person who knows about God'. According to Hinduism, a Brahmin must read all the four Vedas.
