Dusan Krajcinovic was a mechanics scientist. He was past member and chair of the Applied Mechanics Division of ASME. He served a term on the U. S. National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. He authored a review paper on damage mechanics that predates his book on the same subject. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Belgrade before emigrating to the US. He earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University in 1968,
