Ditmar Meidell was a Norwegian magazine and newspaper editor. He was born in Bergen as a son of Lieutenant Colonel and customs inspector Christopher Pritzier Meidell (1783–1851) Laura Fogh (1793–1864). He tried to get into the Norwegian Military Academy, but failed the admission test. He studied mineralogy for a short time before founding the satirical magazine Krydseren together with Gudbrand Andreas Berg, Jakob Thomas Rørdam and Claudius Schive in 1849.
