Liu Fan was a Chinese deputy chief nurse of Wuchang Hospital in Wuhan, Hubei. She was the first nurse to die from SARS-CoV-2 infection, at the age of 59. Her death caused strong internet reactions across China. Both her parents and her brother died of the coronavirus before her, which led many to characterise their deaths as "family extinction" (灭门).
