A former member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), Ong has served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Jurong GRC for the division Bukit Batok between 2011 and 2015 and Bukit Batok SMC between 2015 and 2016. Ong have resigned as Member of Parliament and the People's Action Party due to his extramarital affair.
