David Edward Maust was an American serial killer who targeted predominantly male teenagers. His murders occurred in Germany and the United States. In 1984 he was sentenced to 35 years in prison; he was released under probation in June 1999. Once released and off of probation he continued murdering, leading to his final arrest and sentencing to three life terms without the possibility of parole. In January 2006, about a month after his last sentencing, Maust killed himself by hanging in his jail
