text: David Asael Smith was a member of the presiding bishopric of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints between 1907 and 1938 and was the first president of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Smith was born in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory, the son of LDS apostle Joseph F. Smith and Julina Lambson. He was baptized on his eighth birthday. When Charles W.
