text: David C. Reed was an American Republican politician from California. D. C. Reed was born 1847 in New York. In 1870, he came to San Diego where he became an attorney and real estate and insurance agent. During the boom years of 1886–1888, he was one of the five developers of Pacific Beach. Reed was active in politics. In 1872 and 1884 he was delegate to the Republican State Convention. He canvassed the state for Grant and Wilson in 1872 and for Hayes and Wheeler in 1876.
