Czernica is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Gaszowice, within Rybnik County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) south-west of Gaszowice, 11 km (7 mi) west of Rybnik, and 47 km (29 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice. The village is the birthplace of the composer Henryk Górecki. The name of the village is derived from the river flowing through the village.
