Coppa delle Alpi was a official football tournament, first organized by the Italian national league as it started in 1960 and then they were aided by the Swiss League from 1962, for the reason that the majority of the Alps are in Switzerland [this is an incorrect assertion as "the majority of the alps are" not in Switzerland but in Austria and Italy]. This competition ran from 1960 until 1987. In the 1960s and 1961 editions ranking was compiled by adding the points of the Italian and Swiss teams
