The company is headquartered in Stockton, California, US, and in 2008 closed its Series A round of funding with Quercus Trust as the lead investor. The company was founded in 2006 by Dr. Eric Cummings. Energy industry veteran Rob Lamkin joined the company as CEO in 2007.
