text: Clay Jamieson Smith was an American professional baseball pitcher who appeared in 18 games in Major League Baseball over two seasons for the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers. A member of the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame, he hurled in one game of the 1940 World Series for the Tigers. During his playing career, he batted and threw right-handed, stood 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m) tall, and weighed 190 pounds (86 kg). Smith was born in Cambridge, in Cowley County, Kansas.
