Christene Mayer or Kid Glove Rosey was a New York criminal and thief during the late 19th century; her aliases including Mary Scanlon and Rosey Roder. Born in Germany, Christene became known as a prominent shoplifter in New York and other major cities before her arrest with "Black" Lena Kleinschmidt for stealing two pieces of silk containing 108 yards from the McCreery & Co. store at the corner of 11th Street and Broadway on April 9, 1880.
