Charles de Montsaulnin, Comte de Montal (1619–1696) was a 17th-century French military officer and noble who was a close friend of Le Grand Condé, and fought in many of the wars of Louis XIV of France. His military career began in 1638 under Condé, to whom he would remain loyal for the rest of his life; during the Fronde, he was one of the few to follow him into exile in Spain. Pardoned by Louis XIV in 1659, he remained in military service until his death in 1696, being particularly well-regarde
