Cecil Ashburn Drive is a major road in South Huntsville that carries nearly 20,000 vehicles across Huntsville Mountain in and out of the city from neighboring subdivisions. The scenic mountain route is a four-lane road with eight-foot shoulders on both sides to allow joggers and bicyclists to safely travel the road. Initially a two-lane road, the city of Huntsville widened 3.4 miles of Cecil Ashburn Drive, beginning at Donegal Drive to Taylor Road. The widening project began in January 2019 and
