text:
The Carola Bridge is a bridge in Dresden across the river Elbe. A large section collapsed on 11 September 2024. The bridge was built in 1967–71 on the site of an earlier bridge which had been built in 1895. The earlier Carola Bridge was destroyed by the SS on 7 May 1945, one day before VE Day, to prevent Soviet advance.
