Carmelo Cassati was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church. Cassati was born in Tricase and ordained a priest on 17 December 1949 from the religious order of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. In 1950, he was sent as a Missionary to Brazil and then, in 1951, to Peru. The Apostolic Nuncio of Peru, Giovanni Panico, appointed him his secretary. Cassati was appointed auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Pinheiro, as well as titular bishop of Nova Germania, on 27 April 1970 and ordained on 28 Jun
