text: Carlson Island is a rocky island 2 kilometres (1 nmi) long and 300 metres (1,000 ft) high, lying in Prince Gustav Channel 6 kilometres (3 nmi) southeast of Pitt Point, Trinity Peninsula. It was discovered in 1903 by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition under Otto Nordenskiöld, who named it for Wilhelm Carlson, one of the chief patrons of the expedition.
