Cacahoatán is a city and municipality in the Mexican state of Chiapas, in southern Mexico. It covers an area of 173.9 km2. The land of Cocoa. Nahuatl orig. As of 2010, the municipality had a total population of 43,811, up from 39,033 as of 2005. As of 2010, the city of Cacahoatán had a population of 16,572. Other than the city of Cacahoatán, the municipality had 112 localities, the largest of which were: Salvador Urbina (2,555), classified as urban, and Faja de Oro (2,356), Agustín de Iturbide (
