text: There have been two baronetcies created for persons with the surname Briggs, one in the Baronetage of England and one in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Both creations are extinct. The Briggs Baronetcy, of Haughton in the County of Salop, was created in the Baronetage of England on 12 August 1641 for Morton Briggs. His son, the second Baronet, was Member of Parliament for Wenlock in 1646 and High Sheriff of Shropshire in 1665. The fourth Baronet sat as Member of Parliament for Shropshire,
