Brian Carbury, was a New Zealand fighter ace of the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the Second World War. He was officially credited with destroying 15+1⁄2 German aircraft. Born in Wellington, Carbury joined the RAF in 1937 after being rejected by the Royal Navy. After completion of his flight training, he was posted to No. 41 Squadron where he learnt to fly Supermarine Spitfire fighters. He was later sent to No. 603 Squadron to train its pilots how to handle the Spitfire. During the early stages o
