Before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, Boscotrecase was home to Roman villas, such as the Villa of Agrippa Postumus. In 1337, three monasteries were founded in the area, which led to the formation of the town. Through the centuries, multiple feudal lords oversaw the town.
