text: Bertha Clark-Jones was a Cree-Métis activist. Born in Clear Hills, Alberta as one of 14 children, Clark-Jones joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and served as a drill instructor. Although she "never once felt any discrimination in the air force", she encountered discriminatory policies after being discharged, and was consequently unable to obtain land. She was forced to give up her daughter, the child of an Australian serviceman who had returned home at the war's end, for adoption. She
