Bert Matter is a Dutch composer and organist. Matter was born in 1937 in Baambrugge, where his father was a church minister. At the age of 20, he graduated from the Rotterdams Conservatorium. Since 1960, he taught organ at the musical school in Deventer, and later also in Arnhem and at the Utrechts Conservatorium. Since 1969, Matter has been an organist at Saint Walpurga Church in Zutphen. He retired from this position in 2002 and was succeeded by Klaas Stok. For some time, he served as the chie
