text: The Berlin Open officially known as the West Berlin Open was a men's tennis tournament founded in 1896 as a combined event called the Championships of Berlin until 1914, following World War I the event was known as the Berlin Championships. The event was first played at the Lawn-Tennis-Turnier-Club until 1906. In 1907 it moved to Grunewald, and a new venue the Rot-Weiss Tennis Club.
