Benjamin Charles Prowse was a Canadian merchant and politician. He was born near Charlottetown, the son of William Prowse and attended public school there. He worked as a clerk for a dry goods firm there before finding work in his brother Lemuel's clothing store. By 1886, Prowse had become junior partner in his brother's firm. He married Amanda Maud Millner in 1886. Prowse served on the Charlottetown council from 1904 to 1908 and was the 15th mayor from 1908 to 1910. He served in the local milit
