The Battle of Aksai Chin was one of the major engagements of the Sino-Indian War of 1962. Fought between India and China from October 20 to November 21, 1962, in the high-altitude, barren region of Aksai Chin, the battle was one of several confrontations that ultimately led to the end of hostilities and a ceasefire agreement. Despite intense fighting, the territorial boundaries remained largely unchanged, leading to a situation known as status quo ante bellum.
