Augüera is one of 15 parishes in Belmonte de Miranda, a municipality within the province and autonomous community of Asturias, in northern Spain. Its name comes from the Asturian word "agüeru", which means a pool or irrigation channel. This name is also applied to the valley, where several streams converge. Agüera is 10 km from Belmonte, on the left-hand bank of the river Pigüeña, 340m above sea level. It can be reached by highway AS-227. It is 29.3 km2 (11.3 sq mi) in size with a population of
