The men's shot put at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games as part of the athletics programme was held at the Perry Lakes Stadium on Thursday 29 November 1962. The event was won by Englishman Martyn Lucking with a throw of 59 ft 4 in (18.08 m). Lucking won by 1+1⁄2 in (4 cm), ahead of his training partner Scotsman Mike Lindsay and Dave Steen from Canada who won the bronze medal.
