Antonia Trichopoulou is a nutrition epidemiologist, specialising in the study of the health effects of the Mediterranean diet. She has been called the "mother of the Mediterranean Diet". Trichopoulou is a Professor Emeritus of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens and the President of the Hellenic Health Foundation.
