Angela Rodel is an American-born Bulgarian-to-English literary translator and the executive director of the Bulgarian Fulbright Commission. In 2023, Rodel won the International Booker Prize for her translation of Georgi Gospodinov's novel Time Shelter. Rodel was born in Milwaukee. She graduated from Burnsville High School in 1992. She has a B.A. in linguistics from Yale University and an M.A. in linguistics and ethnomusicology from UCLA. She joined a Slavic chorus at Yale and first came to Bulga
