Andrew Hendry Ross was a Scottish-born Australian politician. He was born in Muirkirk in Ayrshire to farmer David Ross and Mary Kerr. He attended local parish schools before studying medicine at the University of Glasgow. He was an assistant medical officer in London and then an assistant sanitary inspector. In 1857 he arrived in New South Wales as the medical officer on an immigrant ship, and established himself as a local doctor at Molong. During this time he was also District Registrar for bi
